The Centre Daily Times, in State College, Pa., has canceled Ann Coulter’s column. That’s not news except that the editor made a show of it. Newspapers have every right to run the columnists that suit the management and readers. But an editor shouldn’t commit some of the same sins for which he’s “firing” Coulter. A simple note to readers, in unemotional language that resists name-calling, would have been the better choice. As it is now, Coulter has a new flag she can wave.
